:: The Fat Cat Skinny ::
Hartsdale Farmers' Market
Hartsdale, New York (Westchester County)
914-993-1507

When: Saturdays June 19 - November, rain or shine; bring along plenty of cash, credit cards not accepted.
Hours: 9a - 2p
Where: Train Station in Hartsdale, NY
Parking: Parking is a real pain: you have to feed the meters along the street, and it isn't easy to find a spot (there isn't any parking at the train station).

Fat Cat Tip: to score a parking spot, bring your surly suburbanite attitude and a big SUV. You can intimidate those pony-tailed earth-people that show up at farmers' markets.

This is a small market, but it's packed with everything a Fat Cat needs: fresh veggies, flowers, baked goodies.

High Meadow Flower Farm -- fresh cut flowers and herbs. You'll also find them at Farmers' Markets in Nyack and Warwick.

Scotty's Country Kitchen -- fresh baked pies (the cherry crumb pie is delicious), big-assed cookies, turnovers, other mouth-watering baked stuff.

Westchester Greenhouse and Farms -- impressive selection of veggies, fruit, some flowers and herbs. They have everything a home cook could covet, including garlic and fresh cut herbs.

The only drawback -- besides the parking -- is actually getting there, and leaving. For some reason I always have a tough time weaving my way through the streets in Hartsdale. But this farmers' market is worth a visit anywho.
